Just Joey

This is an extraordinarily beautiful english rose, named Just Joey. It starts off a vibrant apricot colour, progressing to a more pale pastel version as the bloom size increase, and maintains its brilliant fragrance throughout. It's a large bloom, about the size of a hand, and exudes beauty which just cannot be ignored.

It's quite a hardy breed of rose, and will withstand many pests and conditions, and of course blooms more when dead flowers are removed.

Ancient gem - inactive volcano crater Kerid

 

Also found on Iceland's 'golden circle' tour, is this inactive volcanic crater, Kerid (Kerið). The inactive volcanic slag crater, Kerið, was reportedly formed about 6,500 years ago, and measures approximately 270 meters long, 170 meters wide,  and 55 meters deep. The colour of the water is striking, which is a result of the natural minerals below. This crater is unique as it is made up of red volcanic rocks, which is unlike most craters and volcanoes which are composed of black rock.

Royal Palace Copenhagen

 

We were about 10 minutes away from a serious downpour in Denmark's capital, Copenhagen, a couple of weeks ago. As you can see from the spectacular cloud formation above the Royal Palace here, you can probably imagine how drenched we got afterward. Either way, it was nice to see where P.Fred & Mary live. Haven't used any effects on this picture taken on my iphone.

Gullfoss - Iceland's two-tier "golden falls"

 

This is Gullfoss "Golden falls", a spectaclar two-tier waterfall found in Iceland's "golden circle" route. It's situated in the Þingvellir national park, about an hour outside the nation's capital, Reykjavik. 

Both tiers drop at right angles to each other, with the upper tier dropping about 11m while the lower tier drops 21m. Mist wafts up from the lower tier due to the quantity of falling water,and with a little bit of sunshine, this permanent rainbow appears, which is evident in this picture.I haven't used any effects on this picture taken on my iphone.

Iceland's "Strokkur" - the most active geothermal hot spring in the world

This is a picture I recently took of Strokkur (Icelandic for "churn"). It is a natural and geothermal hot spring fountain geyser situated beside the Hvita River in Iceland. It is the most active hot spring in the world, erupting about every 4-8 minutes. It blows 15 - 20 m high, with the highest recorded at 40m. No special effects were used on this image.

Manipulating photos with free iPhone photo editing software

Here are two pictures of the same lilly flower. The coloured, is the original, and the black and white, I have manipulated with two taps of the screen, using the free snapbucket iPhone application.
The two affects I have applied are the Outline filter, and the Grunge White frame.
Try it, it's really quite simple!

Gum nut babies

Every Aussie adult knows, and every Aussie kid should know, the May Gibbs childrens' book Snugglepot & Cuddlepie, the gum nut babies.
Well, as I strolled down to the docklands today, low and behold, I see a real life version of where gum nut babies can be found! Maybe I was a bit early, but lunch times and weekends I would dare say would guarantee you a sighting!
